This is how we started/

The clearness provided by the open horizon. The always moving water of the ocean. You hear birds from a distance out on the breakwater. You pull on your hood as a cold wind hits the back of your neck.

The Margarets

Ocean Sound was first established in a small boathouse back in 2005 as a private studio for the Norwegian band The Margarets. They had really good analog-sounding aesthetics and bought some nice tape machines, outboard and classic microphones. Soon they attracted a lot of requests from bands that wanted to escape the cities and experience the serenity of Giske. It didn’t take long before the place was crammed with equipment and instruments and the idea to design a purpose-built studio was born.

Opening doors

In 2009 Ocean Sound as we know it today opened it’s doors. We’ve had artists coming from all continents and corners of the world. Between 40 and 50% of the projects international. Artists and producers in pretty much every genre seem to enjoy Giske, and making Ocean Sound their home for a while.
