  • We’re situated very close Ålesund Airport Vigra where there are direct flights to and from all the major Norwegian cities, as well as some international flights. You can also get here by car from anywhere in Europe if you prefer driving, but it might take a while.

  • We recommend taking a taxi or rent a car at the airport. We get good deals for car rentals with Avis, so you can pick up a car at the airport and have total flexibility for going to the super market or to Ålesund city.

  • We have four bedrooms sleeping up to eight people.

We can help arrange a rental car for your stay. There are also many quality restaurants in Ålesund if you’re tired of cooking. • Get in touch to discuss your project and needs to receive a quote or estimate.

  • Yes, as well as the accomodation.

  • Yes, the gear lists are updated regularly. We take non-working gear off the lists.

  • We place a high importance on maintenance and reliable equipment, so stuff usually work pretty well. However because of the sheer amount of gear here, breakdowns can happen during a session. There’s usually some stuff in our workshop or off to repair elsewhere as well.

  • To keep mix rates reasonable, we don’t create mix stems unless needed. So if not specified in your mix quote it’s not included. However we are happy to provide you with stems for remixes, live shows and so on at an hourly rate.

  • As a courtesy we usually keep a copy of all the projects that’s recorded on one of our Pro Tools systems. It’s easy for us to send you the Pro Tools session and can usually do that free of charge. If you want multitrack wav-files it usually involves going through the session, checking edits/fades, making sure the naming scheme makes sense, going though playlists and alternative takes and so forth, before exporting from a common start point. For this work we charge an hourly rate.

  • Yes, in addition to all the talented visiting producers, Henning Svoren and Anders Boska do a lot of production here throughout the year. Get in touch if you want to find out if they’re a good match for your project.

  • We get quite a lot of e-mails from aspiring engineers and producer (a bunch of them seem seriously talented). However we’re a pretty small organisation with just three full-time members, so your best bet at working at Ocean Sound is on a project that’s booked with an artist you’re working with.

  • It’s always fun to talk with like-minded music nerds, so we try to allow for visits as long as we don’t disturb an ongoing session.
